Having read Emma Wicker’s Bearwood Series (New Adult/Paranormal Romance) I knew I wanted to read These Simple Scars. Emma is a very good story-teller.I really enjoyed this story of Faith and Garrett. Both of them are scarred, physically and mentally. Despite this Faith has a real capacity to trust and love. Garrett falls for her hard but he has doubts about himself. His feelings of unworthiness make him push her away.
This story gripped me from the start and I was hoping Faith and Garrett would have a HEA.
This is a very entertaining read and there it emphasizes that scars on the outside have nothing to do with the beauty of the person inside.
Looking forward to Emma Wicker’s next novel.

This is my first book by Emma and I really liked it! Faith and Garrett both have pasts that they are trying to work through. I loved these two together. The love that they share is really sweet. I felt for both of them and was rooting for a HEA. I can't wait to read more as the secondary characters were quite intriguing.
This is the first book that I have read from Emma Wicker and it most certainly won't be the last. This is a really good book with a brilliant story and a lovely set of characters. This book is Garrett and Faith's story. They meet when Garrett stops to help Faith, when her car is broken down outside the sleepy town of Silver. They are instantly attracted to one another and that's where their story begins. This is a really intriguing book and touches your emotions with Faith and Garrett's stories. The additional characters all have stories of their own to tell and I hope we get to find out more about them. This book really will suck you in and you won't want to put it down. This is an enjoyable, emotional, romantic book which is definitely worth your time. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book and I would recommend it to anyone. I can't wait to read more from Emma Wicker
These Simple Scars by Author Emma Wicker. It is a friends-to-lovers novel.
Faith and Garrett are two young, attractive people. Both running from past scars, both looking for something. Faith grew up in Philadelphia and has made her way to Silver. Garrett grew up in Silver and has fond memories of the small town. Neither are prepared for each other, their formidable feelings, or impending fall.
"I’m pretty sure there’s not a girl on earth that wouldn’t stare at his delectable rear."
These Simple Scars was a fast-paced novel filled with great friends and love in a small town. I had such strong hope for Faith and Garrett. They each had their own struggles to overcome, but were fighters and pushed for better things in life. I loved that fate brought them to each other, and in bringing them together brought an entire cast of great characters that I am thrilled to get more of.
“Where the hell did you come from, cause I’m thinkin’ you’re an angel sent straight from heaven.”
Of course no novel from Author Emma Wicker would be complete without some hot and sexy times. These moments ramped up the energy in the story and gave us a look at the connection of these two characters in a different light.
"These scars show it’s a survivor, and that’s pretty beautiful."
Through twists and turns, highs and lows These Simple Scars revealed a beautiful love and hope for the future.
A gorgeous read with *all the feels*
I love the characters in this book. It was so nice to read about characters that actually go through thing in their lives that actually are going on in the real world of today.
The book kept my interest all the way from the beginning to the end, and making me feel excited that there will be a book 2. The author, Emma Wicker has a real gift of keeping your interest in the characters , look forward to more of her books.
What I love about this book was how the two characters come with their own baggage & doubts. Despite their troubles Garrett and faith demonstrate inner strength. I also love the cast of characters who I hope will show up again in future installments. Especially Dylan who really seems to be an all-around awesome guy & needs to find a special someone. Wicker has a great descriptive toolbox; I felt I was in Silver. Her use of dialogue keeps the story flowing smoothly. Looking forward to the next installment.
